How can I restore my data on the Enterprise Server using a backup file?

In the event of data loss on your Password Depot Enterprise Server, you can use backup files to restore your data.

By default, the server manager creates backup files. We urgently recommend that you also use this option to have backup files created automatically on a regular basis and thus to additionally secure your data.

The standard directory for backup files is:

C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Password Depot Server 17\Backups\

You can see this in the Password Depot 17 Server Manager under Manage > Server settings > Backups.

Your databases as well as the .cfg file (user and settings) and the log file are saved in the backup files (zip folder).

If you copy the relevant files into the associated directories, they should then be available again on the server and you will then see the users and settings again.

In version 17, the directories are as follows:

  • Databases: C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Password Depot Server 17\Data\DB\
  • Cfg file: C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Password Depot Server 17\Data\
  • Log file: C:\Program Files\AceBIT\Password Depot Server 17\Logs\

Before you copy the relevant files, please make sure that the server service is stopped (Task Manager > Services > PD_Service_17).
