How to migrate your Password Depot Enterprise Server 17 to a new Windows Server/computer

This is a guide on how to migrate your Password Depot Enterprise Server 17 to another Windows Server/computer.

The computer you are migrating to must meet the following requirements:

  • The Server Manager must be installed and run as a Windows service.

  • The Log On account of the service PD_Service_17 (by default the Local System account) needs full read and write access to the program directory of the Server Manager.

  • Firewall rules allowing incoming and outgoing TCP/UDP connections over Port 25017 on both sides/computers.

  • Applies only when auto AD sync is enabled: The Log On account of the service PD_Service_17 (by default the Local System account) must be able to read the memberships of the previously imported users and groups. Previously imported groups may otherwise lose their members.

How to migrate to a new computer

Step 1: Install the Password Depot Enterprise Server on the new machine.

Step 2: Stop the service PD_Service_17 on both computers.

Step 3: Copy the following folders and files from the initial program directory of the Server Manager (computer A) to the program directory of the new Server Manager (computer B).

\Backups

\CA

\Cert

\Data

\Logs

\pdserver.ini

Step 4: Now start the PD_Server_17 service on the new Windows computer and finally the Server Manager.
