If you want Password Depot to start with Windows, set this in the program options (Options -> General -> Launch application on Windows startup). Afterwards, the entry "Password Depot" will be present in the registry as follows:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If you cannot find this entry in the registry and Password Depot still starts with Windows, this is due to the Creator Update of Windows.
We cannot bypass this behavior of Windows because it is not allowed at the moment. That is why we also cannot offer a workaround.
Please read the corresponding Microsoft statement:
"This is actually a change in the core functionality of Windows in this development cycle.
Old behavior:
- When you shut down your PC, all apps are closed
- After reboot/restart, you have to re-open any app you'd like to use
New behavior:
- When shutting down your PC, any open apps are "bookmarked" (for lack of a better word)
- After reboot/restart, these apps will re-open automatically
If you want to start with no apps open (other than those set to auto-start via Task Manager/Start), you'll need to ensure all apps are closed before shutting down or restarting the PC.
Why?
The desire is to create a seamless experience wherein, if you have to reboot a PC, you can pick back up quickly from where you left off and resume being productive. This has far-ranging impacts across the OS (in a good way)."
Comments
This is not correct. With task manager I make sure that no Password Depot executables(from C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AceBIT.GmbH.Password.Depot_15.2.0.0_x64__2kwj4jv5edp0w) are running before I shutdown Windows. Still after power up, the Depot starts, ask for password, and open it self for full screen. And of course, it is done "to create a seamless experience" for me!
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your request!
Actually, we do not know what
AceBIT.GmbH.Password.Depot_15.2.0.0_x64__2kwj4jv5edp0w
is?
Password Depot is a native Win64/Win32 application and cannot have this program path. Therefore, please make sure you are using a standard installer which can be downloaded from our website:
